FASTFOOT®

JDL Homes - Why we use Fastfoot...

Jeff Langford, Partner of JDL Homes, discusses in this video the importance of Fastfoot in preventing rising damp as well as other steps taken to improve the quality and thermal performance of their homes.

Pouring footings

Fastfoot allows JDL to form their footings with 2x4s, this means less lumber to the jobsite, and much less to throw out. With the closed form, shoveling gravel around the base of the footings is no longer needed.

Rising damp

Fastfoot prevents ground moisture from wicking up into the concrete footing for the life of the building. This is a very inexpensive insurance to prevent mold and mildew in the basement. For more information, click on this LINK.

Zont bracing

Zont™ bracing was used to flatten the ICF wall, provide a walkway, and adjust the plumb. Click HERE for a link to the Zont bracing page.

Anchor bolt plates

JDL Homes uses Soprema's Colphene 3000 Peel & Stick membrane to protect the wall against ground moisture. The membrane is then lapped over Fastfoot® to ensure that moisture cannot enter the foundation wall nor footing.

Outside of foundation

JDL Homes uses a dimple membrane on the outside of the Peel & Stick to ensure water cannot build up on the outside of the wall. A grey breathable air barrier is placed above the Peel & Stick to allow the water vapour to escape during the curing process.
