Columbia, is one of BC's
largest home builders, with over 5,500 homes
constructed since 1980. ParkLane recently began
construction of 69 homes on the beautiful tidal banks of
the Nicomekl River in South Surrey, BC.
PROJECT DETAILS
Set on linked cul-de-sacs with views of the Nicomekl River, the
adjacent golf course, and groves of mature trees, Southport's single
family homes are 2,200 to 3,200 square feet. The
ocean-inspired architecture reflects the location on the banks of the
river and nearby Boundary Bay.

CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION The
homes are built on either full basements or crawl spaces, with
conventional 8" concrete walls formed with plywood. All concrete
work is done by Strachan Forming.
Each home has a porch with concrete columns used
to support vertical loads. "We always use Fast-Tube™",
enthused Brian Strachan, President. "You cut
them to length in seconds, no waste and no water damage - that's
real important in our rainy climate! I can't understand why everyone
doesn't use Fast-Tube™." |

GREENING
OF CONCRETE
Lyle Slater, Project Supervisor, has been with ParkLane for 21
years, and is excited about Fast-Tube™. "ParkLane is
more and more aware of using green
materials", confirmed Lyle. "Fast-Tube™
is a great example. There's no waste from the 120' rolls of fabric, whereas with
cardboard you throw 3 or 4 feet away on every column. And we don't waste
time and gas picking up
cardboard tubes on pour day, as you can't store cardboard on site.
That's a huge benefit for ParkLane." |
