FASTBAG® FABRIC FORMWORK
Building
officials and contractors concerned with the rounded appearance of the concrete
filled Fastbag® should realize it is a temporary form and will provide the
critical footing width and depth when filled with concrete.
The Fastbag® provides the shear and punching shear requirements for the
empirical depth and width requirements of Section 1806.2 and Table 18-I-C, or
as designed under section 1922.7 of the 1997 Uniform Building Code, and
Subsection 9.15.3 of the Canadian 1995 National Building Code.
Fastbags® meet the requirements of ACI 347R-94, 'Guide to Formwork for
Concrete', which encourages and allows contractors to take responsibility for
the use of forming materials that provide the most economical solution to their
forming problems, whilst meeting the contract requirements of the design or
project they are building.
Concrete savings are achieved by using Fastbags® as the curved upper edge saves
on concrete, and there is no leakage with the bag. The system can be considered
"environmentally friendly" as it reduces significantly the lumber used to form
footings as well as the energy costs of moving, storing, and cleaning that
lumber.
